New lighting ideas.

The crop is terrible because I need a bigger tank. Like maybe another foot or more on the end of this one... Goddamnit.

Working on it.

What is the liquid you are using now for these shots?

about 10% milk and 90% water.

I'm trying to keep it mostly water currently so that I get to understanding the way the kit works. Then I'll slowly change the consistence of liquids I use. I've things like alcohol, cream, rinse aid, motor oils. Basically anything that will drip ;D

Thanks Randall.

The day I stop experimenting is the day I pull out my rocking chair and shout at children

JELLYFISH! :D

I like how it makes the sky look, you can see purple and yellow and blue all melding together.

The weird part is the only colour in the "water" was blue and yellow. My white balance went a lil crazy! :D

Uh, we're getting closer! The upper half with the water and the yellow color actually looks like the reflection of the sky.

Yeah, slowly. Its taken me 3 days to get something worth keeping.

I either need to change the pattern I'm trying to get, or get a bigger tray now :)

*checks camera*

f14 at near enough 2 feet away. So pretty huge depth of feild for a droplet

And how big was/is your the bucket you use?

I'm asking because I want to try something with a big glas-sculpture from Oliver Drobar.

Its an over baking tray that is about 12"x8"

I'm intrigued! I noticed he sold my favourite peice, that bastard!! ;)

Water combined with glass huh? I think you're really onto something

What was your favorite piece? A paperweight? A sculpture?

Yeah, I thought about water and glas for a long time...but I had no real idea what to do until recently. If I don't have an idea I can't do shit...

Yeah you're right. Ideas are the building blocks :)

It was a bowl that looked like a water splash, blue and spikey. Freakin' superb, but I dread how much it would have cost!

Cool shot :-) What height are the drops colliding at from the surface, roughly?

Its about 6-7 inches this one. Fair old height which causes issues with the tray I'm using.

Have you thought about messing with the surface of the water? Add some leaves or water striders or something of the like?

Dude... I hate you sometimes...

I've five leaves drying out to make an autumn-y shot.

Water striders, I liek this idea. I have a shot of a fly beiing hit with a drop lol

Nats would be something. They're so small, they might not effect water's shape as much.

Have you got any pepper?

Ideas, mate. The foundation of all things awesome.

Pepper?

Of course. But why?

Pepper on milk could make for a cool contrast shot. Black specks on a white surface. It could also make for a wicked surface grid. Give the viewer a reference for the change in the surface structure.

The lighting is good, very clear and it makes the drops stand out:)
As for the crop it looks good, it makes the droplets and ripples seem huge! You've really improved with your kit^^

Thanks K! :D

Gonna try drops that are more appropriate for the size of the tray I've got. I have more ideas in mind :)
