Going through my old Urbex folder I came across this, a shot I actually quite like.
A patients private room in Whittingham asylum.
:EDIT:
HOLY COW!!! I got a Daily Deviation! I don't know what to say, I'm sat in a room with all my friends and I've been swearing for about 5 minutes!! Thank you so much ^ScENeYmE for suggesting this!! And ^MC-Frizzle for featuring this!
I am freaking beyond words, I never ever thought I'd get a DD
Also, an awesome MLP (I know, shock horror that I said awesome!) photo maniuplation here by *metadragonart Go check it out! [link]
Wow… What an awesome shot. The dark mood in this is awesome. I really love the dirty and destroyed floor and the green roof. The peeling wall gives a great atmosphere to this photo. The lighting is great as well. But what really call my attention in a good (spectacular) way are the plants growing in the room and especially on the window. I’m a photo manipulation lover and I’d love to use this photo some day in one of my manipulations. Hope it’s cool with you!
Congrats on this awesome shot! . Sorry if I miss spelled along the way. English isn’t my native language. . . PShoudini
I have to say I really, really like this. It is gorgeous and powerful. The way the destruction seems to emanate from the window is simply beautiful. (there are more broken things near the edges, framing and drawing the eye in to the window).
I also love how the lighting fans out from the window - could you picture how that would look at sunset with the light all golden? The broken room gilded with sunlight. It would only work if the window faced the right way, but it would look fantastic.
Your composition is awesome, the only thing you might want to change is to shift just slightly to the right or crop out the edge of those pipe thingies. They're just a little distracting.
The only other thing I'd suggest would be putting a subject in there - a figure silhouetted by the window would give it a stronger story. Although the concept of this empty, abandoned place that has been destroyed is great, by adding a person it can really make the viewer start to wonder and imagine why someone ended up in such an unusual place.
